Cabot Trail
Wednesday 8/6
Dillon and Mimi (the dog) came over to my cubical for coffee. My newly purchased grounds made us some really weak coffee. It going to take a few mugs to work out this really fine grind.
On my way to the bathroom, I talked with two brothers from VA. One had a bike front rim failure on route and replaced the bike with a new 310gs. We talked while they packed up the bikes. Then the gs toppled into the ktm390 and took both to the ground. Didn't fase the guys much. The 310 lost a rear blinker and front clutch lever.
I also heard that the lady with a sunset hike was called, and her hike was canceled. All of the trail parking lots along the Cabot Trail had barrels and signs turning away hikers.
After dropping down from the highlands, I went to a bakery for breakfast. I ate the sandwich and cinnamon bun before I took a photo. So you only the cheese croissant and coffee got photoed.
For some reason today, I was behind and passed a lot of slow drivers. I opted to take the entire west coast of CBI to the causeway. While stopped by a flag man, a Harley from NY caught up to me. Then we rode the last hour off CBI together. With many more slow car passes.
Once I lost the Harley, I thought for gas, but then he was back a few miles later. My best guess, no premium gas at that pump. He finally stopped at the first Irving on the NS mainland.
I continued on another 60km to a different Irving. After fueling up, I had a talk with two guys from Florida. They are Barber Museum supporters and plan to be there in October. Inside, I used the restroom and had a KFC lunch.
Not sure yet how far I will go today. But it seems like I should log some miles today and make Thursday and Friday a bit easier. Allowing me to reach Lamoine on Friday for the start of the RSM campout.
One extra stop to use the bathroom, refuel, and do chain maintenance. But continued on through Moncton construction to the Hopewell Rocks area. Stopped for dinner at The Wave Restaurant. Got in 20 minutes before they closed at 1930. Really enjoyed my meal of muscles, garlic bread, side salad, and finished up with a slice of pecan pie. It was easily the best meal of this trip. Well worth the $45 ca.
I have been too successful in logging miles. I need to decide if I stay here two nights or ride some of the 5 hours to Lamoine.
Next stop Ponderosa Pines Campground, our goto campground for this area.
