Bottle Cove 2

Saturday 8/2

Bunk-a-Biker turned out really well. We had coffee, bacon, and eggs. Followed by a visit from an old timer. We yarned awhile. He had stopped by to drop off a shelf he had made. Shannon and I took another tour around the area, and picked up hardware to hang the shelf. Later two other neighbors stopped in to help pull her bike out of it's basement storage. Which initiated a battery charging project. After hanging the shelves we picked cherries off the fruit trees and grabbed dinner from Mileys Snack Shack. Getting late in the day to travel and I had another area hike planned. So I extended my stay another day, and we went to see the sunset again. This time all of it.

A day full of meeting colorful locals and a few chores. But what is the one more hike here?

Back at the Tilt, I had asked the waitress what was interesting to see around here. She suggested the shipwreck. Tjat sounds far more archaic than it actually is. When was the shipwreck? February of 2025? So it is not a centuries old sailing ship? No a modern container ship hit the rocky cost in rough seas.

The locals all confirmed, it was worth seeing. Since February, they have put in a $2M road to reach and offload the ships' fuel and cargo. Ine can hike 30 minutes out on a trail to the wreck. Get photos and hike the new road back to parking. How can I not.

After my hike, I will be continuing south and scheduling my ferry to Cape Brenton Island. Hopefully with an overnight at Meat Cove in my near future.
