OK (10/19/23 Thu)
Breakfast out with Erik and Nancy, then a quick bike repack. But a very slow return to the open road, skipping all the rush hour traffic. Traffic around Dallas is not fun, even during the slow hours. I can't wait to see what my bill to participate in the Texas toll road rat race will cost me. So far I haven't been directly billed for any of the states where I've taken toll roads. Many states have EZPass, which I'm sure I have payed tolls with my transponder. Just no tolls via US Mail after they track me using my plate number. It would make sense if they only billed when the total billed amount exceeds the the all the effort to track me down, print and mail out a bill.
Total of two gas stops today, and one lunch truck. Did a chain lube at gas stop #1. The lunch truck was Hachi Hachi in Broken Bow, OK. It has a 5 star rating, and I agree. My only gripe is they only have soda, no lemonade or tea. I talked with Anne while eating, then used the portapotty. Before riding away I secured Blue Jay campsite #8 in Beaver's Bend State Park's website.
I arrived just after sunset, but managed to catch a couple photos of the last few rays of light before I setting up my tent. Then I talked with Anne again. It's a pretty spot on the water. Once the sun was gone the moon reflected off the water, and the stars came out in force. The Blue Jay campground road itself has some really bad pavement on the roade to site #1. It's a very hilly spot. The twisty road into all the various camping areas is very nice curvy pavement, even though the gps believes it is all unpaved.
Temperaturs in near 60F. Not bad to sit around, but it's going to be great for sleeping. I could use a good nights sleep, so I'm hitting the tent around 2115. Good night crickets.
