Arrival 2025-04-25

A few minutes after starting my coffee and packing routine, Jim returned from his shower. We took some photos and payed our campground fee. Said goodbye to the rabbits and headed back towards Rt81.

We took some parallel secondary roads to avoid Rt81 construction. Then we avoided the oncoming rain for a while. At a gas stop we put on rain gear before the first of many small rain cells caught us during the days ride.

We had breakfast at the bar of a small diner on route. The diner staff was mostly two generations of a single family. Expectedly, Jim and I talked with all the staff and many locals. Our only other meal for the day was purchased at a grocery store before reaching the Iron Horse Lodge. Expecting to check in, setup tents in the last light of the day and then eat.

The lodge was booked for everything but tenting. The main group for thr weekend was sidecar. To me that means you get to take your dog on the bike. I am not alone in this line of thought. And I was able to get some fur therapy from a few new dog friends.

We had about an hour after tent setup of no rain. Then moderate to heavy rains all evening. No sitting around the fire. We ate on the covered deck, then went inside to talk. I updated the website with photos and blog entries for the first two days, before bedtime
